Family Centers offer local services in the municipalities. The Family Center's services include home service and supporting families with children, family counseling, school psychologist service and child protection. Family Centers work in cooperation with municipalities, organizations, parishes and families. The family center is open to all families with children and it offers an open meeting point when needed.

Family Centre

The aim of maternity counseling is to secure the health and well-being of the pregnant woman and the fetus, to promote the health and well-being of the future parents and the entire family, and the health and safety of the future child's development environment. The goal is also to promote public health and prevent disorders during pregnancy. At the maternity clinic, problems and disorders during pregnancy are identified as early as possible and the necessary treatment, help and support are arranged without delay. Maternity counseling centers participate in narrowing health differences and preventing marginalization by means of, among other things, early targeted support.

The mission of the maternity counseling center is, for example, organizes periodic health checks and home visits in accordance with the recommendations, extensive health check-up of the family expecting a child, and multi-professional family coaching. In addition, the counseling center must support families, identify potential disorders and their risk factors early on, and cooperate with other actors.

The mission of the Child care clinic is to promote the health and well-being of children under school age and their families. Children's counseling 

• monitors and promotes the child's physical, psychological, and social growth and development
• supports parents in safe, child-oriented upbringing and good care of the child
• supports family relationships

The counseling aims to detect the special support needs of families with children as early as possible and organize appropriate support and assistance. 

Children receive the vaccinations included in the vaccination program at the counseling center.

Services  (incl. nurse and doctor appointments) are free for municipal residents. Co-operation is carried out with various actors and voluntary organizations.

You will be called to appointments by the patient number on the screens or by name in the waiting areas . 

Please note that when arriving from the main entrance, the Entrance floor is the 2nd floor.

Dental emergency

Dental emergency appointment is availabe every day. The emergency reception is for all patients requiring emergency treatment. The urgency for treatment is assessed over the phone.

The dental emergency on weekends and holidays is open 9 AM to 3 PM at Kainuu Central Hospital Emergency Clinic (Sotkamontie 13, Kajaani). Entrance F2. Please self-register in the lobby of when arriving.

The dental emergency care is for patients when treatment cannot be safely postponed to the next weekday.

Weekday and weekend evenings after 3 p.m
If you need urgent dental care in the evening between 3-9 pm, please contact the Central Ostrobothnia dental emergency on 06 828 7450, (Mariankatu 16-20, Kokkola: Central Ostrobothnia Hospital, D-wing, 1st floor). The need for urgency will be assessed over the phone.

When you contact the dental clinic, your need is assessed by the professionals. You will receive advice or a scheduled  appointment for treatment. A call-back service is in use. You can find regional contact information on the Dental clinics tab.

A text message reminder will be send two days before the time (automatically to the number that indicated in the health care data, if available). Appointment changes should be made on dental clinic's appointment number, Mon-Thurs 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and Fri 7:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. You can also cancel on Omasote online-service. 

A call-back system is in use Mon-Thu from 8:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 8:00 to 15:00.

Listen the recorded message on the phone and follow the instructions. You will be called back from an unknown number (the delay is 1-3 days depending on the demanded service). It's unnecessary to call several times because your information is saved. 

MyKanta (OmaKanta in Finnish) is a nationwide online service intended for citizens to view their health data. Social welfare client data are also gradually being added to the service. In MyKanta, you can  see the information that has been recorded about you in the Kanta Services, i.e. Kanta. When you visit a public or private health care provider,  a pharmacy, or a social welfare service provider, information about your visit is entered in Kanta. Social welfare and health care professionals record information about you when you visit a doctor or manage your social welfare affairs with your case worker, for example. In MyKanta, you can also act on behalf of another person,  such as your child or a loved one.
